PAC invites suggestions on sanitation in Railways

New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, has invited suggestions from the interested organisations and individuals on the cleanliness and sanitation in the Indian Railways as part of upgrading its passenger amenities.

An official note today said the committee headed by BJP MP Vijay Kumar Malhotra had taken up the subject 'Cleanliness and Sanitation on the Indian Railways' for a detailed examination, and its report would be submitted to the Parliament.

The suggestions, comments and views received from the individuals and organisations would serve as valuable inputs for ''improving systems for maintenance of sanitation and related infrastructure in the Railways'', it added.

The suggestions, either in English or Hindi, are to be sent to Mr Brahm Dutt, Director Lok Sabha Secretariat, Room No 403, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi (Tel No. 23034403 and Fax 23010756). These can also be e-mailed at compac@sansad.nic.in or bdutt@sansad.nic.in within 15 days.

The suggestions, in the form of memoranda, would form part of the records of the Committee and would be treated as confidential, the official note said.

Those who are willing to appear before the Committee, besides submitting memoranda, are requested to indicate so. However, the Committee's decision in this regard will be final.

Parliament adopts Foreign Languages Bill

New Delhi, Dec 12: Parliament today adopted the English and Foreign Languages University Bill 2006 providing for establishing and incorporating a teaching university for promotion and development of English and other foreign languages.
