North Indians safe in Mumbai: Ravi Kishan

Jaunpur, Feb 7: Veteran Bhojpuri actor and producer Ravi Kishan today said North Indians in Maharashtra would face no more threats and were safe now.

'' North Indians are earning their livlihood in Mumbai since four decades,''Ravi Kishan said while talking to mediapersons at his ancestral village Barai in Kerakat tehsil. Lauding the North Indians, he said North Indian's are hardworking and had their major contribution in strengthening the economy of Mumbai.

None of us wants the violent protest to continue rather were praying for peace in the State,'' he said.

''I have personally requested the Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilas Rao Deshmukh to initiate action to cease violence against North Indians in Mumbai, '' The CM had assured me that no harm would happen to them and to Bhojpuri films, he added.

Being assertive the actor said, ''I will continue my effort to spread the message of 'Ahimsa' and make India a developed country through my films.''

Bird flu spreads to new areas in Assam

Kamrup (Assam), Dec 6: With a fresh outbreak of bird flu in poultry being detected in Assam, authorities are prepared to start the culling of thousands of chickens.Reports say the virus has spread to the districts of Barpeta and Nalbari from Hajo in Kamrup District, where it was first reported. Samples were sent to laboratories in Bhopal and have tested positive for H5N1 avian influenza.The State Government has ordered culling operations and culling officers have already started going.....
