Nitish condemns remarks of Delhi Lt Governor against north Indians

Patna, Feb 7 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today condemned Delhi Lieutenant Governor Tejinder Khanna's dubbing the north Indians as ''habitual rule violators''.

Mr Kumar told reporters here that remark of Mr Khanna was bad in taste and persons holding high position should avoid making such comments against the people of particular region.

'' People from north India and particularly from Bihar are law abiding citizens and they are not required to get certificate from Mr Khanna on their conduct, '' he said adding people of Bihar were earning their livelihood on strength of their merit and hard labour.

Mr Kumar said the Delhi Lt Governor had earlier pressed for carrying the identity cards by the people living in New Delhi.

The order of Lt governor was ultimately withdrawan following widespread protest and his letter to the Prime Minister, seeking his personal intervention in this regard, he added.

Milma for hike in milk price

Thrissur, Feb 7 (UNI) Milma (Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation) Director Board meeting today decided to recommend to the Government to increase the price of milk by Rs three per litre. The meeting decided to give Rs 2.25 of the increased amount to dairy farmers, sources said. Milma would take urgent steps to bring two lakh litres of milk from Maharashtra. UNI XR JJ 2127.....

Nepal newspaper claims kidney scam kingpin arrested

Kathamandu, Feb 7 (UNI) A Nepali newspaper tonight claimed that Dr Amit Kumar, the kingpin in the recently unearthed sensational kidney scam, had been arrested in the Himalayan nation. The website of the Himalayan Times reported that a special team of the Kathmandu police had arrested an Indian national said to be the main accused in the kidney racket from a jungle resort in southern Nepal close to the Indian border. Brown sugar worth Rs 90 lakh seized, 3 held

Belgaum, Feb 7 (UNI) Police seized 570 gram of brown sugar, worth about Rs 90 lakh, and arrested three persons here today. District Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar told newspersons that the culprits were arrested from central bus stand on a tip off. The arrested were Elengbum Biswanath Singh alias Radhesham Singh (28) of Manipur, Tombram Suvaschandrasingh, an army nurse who is currently on leave and Nandakishor Narayan Majagaonkar (26) of Joida in Karwar, Karnataka.
