MK to inaugurate press club's new building

Chennai, Feb 7 (UNI) The Chennai Press Club has decided to invite Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to inaugurate the club's new building, built by SRM University at a cost of Rs 1.40 crore.

A meeting of the club office bearers and senior journalists last evening, decided to invite the Chief Minister to inaugurate the two-storeyed building, constructed by SRM University under its direct supervision.

The new building, located at Government Estate in Chepauk Assembly constituency, represented by the Chief Minister, had conference hall, media centre, library, gym, community hall and canteen among other facilities.

The meeting decided to purchase ACs, fans, pedestal fans, chairs, xerox machine, printer, scanner, computers, broadband connection, LCD projector and generator through sponsors.

Prime Minister to visit Maharashtra on Feb 8

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) A heavy schedule awaits Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who will pay a two-day visit to Maharashtra from tomorrow. Dr Singh will lay the foundation stone for the Rajiv Gandhi National Flying Training Institute at Gondia on February 9. The Institute is a joint venture between the CAE, Canada, and the Airport Authority of India and would have a capacity to train 100 pilots initially. It would also have a state- of-the- art.....

Expert Legal Opinion on Raj Thackeray still awaited

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) The legal opinion, sought by Maharashtra government from the state Advocate General over action against Raj Thackeray, president of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), for his alleged provocative remarks against North Indians that led to violence in the Metropolis, was still awaited. Sources in the Advocate General's office said it will be forwarded to the government shortly. Adovate General Ravi Kadam was examining the case. When contacted, he refused to make any.....

National Weightlifting coaching camp called off

Patiala, Feb 7 (UNI) The National Weightlifting Coaching Camp for seniors and juniors, which was underway here at the NIS, has been called off due to lack of discipine in the camp. Executive Director of Sports Authority of India Laxman Singh Ranawat told UNI here today that ''I have taken this step to call off the camp since only half of the lifters have reported for the senior and junior camps and I cannot allow.....
