Meeting at LG House to discuss Jama Masjid development plan

New Delhi, Feb 7 (UNI) A meeting was today held at the Lt Governor's Secretariat in Delhi to discuss the various objections and queries about the redevelopment plan of the Jama Masjid drafted by the MCD.

The meeting, chaired by the Principal Secretary to the LG R Chandra Mohan and attended by the MCD Zonal Deputy Commissioner Vijay Singh, discussed various queries raised by Delhi Assembly Deputy Shoiab Iqbal and councillors Khurram Iqbal and Ubaid Iqbal.

The queries by Mr Iqbal and the councillors were taken note of and satisfactorily cleared by the MCD zonal Dy Commissioner. Mr Singh assured the leaders that their suggestions would be duly considered while enforcing the redevelopment plan of Jama Masjid, a LG House release said.

''They were further informed that the matter regarding excavation of Akbarabadi mosque has been referred to the Archaeologuical Survey of India, as per the advice of the Delhi Urban Arts Commission, and only after clearance from the ASI any further step would be initiated in this regard,''the release said.

In another meeting with MCD councillor Mahamood Zia, the redevelopment plan for Jama Masjid was discussed whereby he conveyed his full appreciation of the plan as it would solve several problems of the area and bring back the prestigious old shape of the area.
