German MPs suggest infrastructure cooperation with Kerala

Kochi, Feb 7: A delegation of German MPs suggested during a meeting with businessmen here recently that German companies could cooperate with Kerala in the area of infrastructure development, according to Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In a release here, the Chamber said the German delegation, headed by Mr Josef Winkler of the Indo-German Parliamentary Friendship Group of the German Bundestag, also appreciated the strides Kerala has made in tourism.

The other MPs in the team were Mrs Sabine Zimmermann, Dr Wilhelm Priesmeier, Mr Peter Hettlich, Mr Johannes Pflug, Mr Johannes Singhammer and Mr Henning Otte. Mr Erik Kurzweil of the German embassy in New Delhi accompanied the group.

One of the major aims of their visit was to get a better idea of the investment potential of Kerala and the industrial scenario in Kochi.

Chamber President R Mohandas briefed the delegation about the upcoming infrastructure projects here including the international container transhipment terminal, LNG import and re-gassification terminal, international bunkering terminal, international cruise passenger terminal and a port-based special economic zone.

3-day-old baby mauled to death by stray dog

Kottayam, May 23: In a gruesome incident, a new born infant was mauled by a stray dog at Manarcadu here yesterday.According to the police, the local people in the area found the body of the baby being dragged by the dog.The postmortem revealed that the body was of a three-day-old baby girl, the sources said, adding the baby was suffocated to death immediately after its birth.It was suspected that the baby might have been abandoned by.....
