Evidence against Brijesh Singh ready, Maria

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) Joint Commissioner of city police (crime) Rakesh Maria today said all the evidence against Brijesh Singh, the accused in February 12, 1992 shoot-out at J J hospital was ready, and has been submitted to the court.

Addressing the media today, Mr Maria said Singh was a front man of absconding Mafia Don Dawood Ibrahim and had carried out the shooting at J J Hospital, on Arun Gawli aide Shailesh Haldankar at the behest of Dawood.

The police are investigating the information about Singh's investment in Bhubaneshwar, he added.

Singh has been remanded to police custody till February 21.

Woodpicker trampled to death by elephants

Census puts TN dog "strength" at 27 lakh

Chennai, Feb 7 (UNI) Tamil Nadu had a dog population of 27 lakhs, according to the 2004 census, state Planning Commission Deputy Chairman M Naganathan said today. Addressing the SAARC Congress on dogs practice here, he said as per the census, there were 24 lakh canines in the state and Chennai city had 39,878 dogs.
