Congress wants to come to power using ultras: CPI(M)

Agartala, Feb 7 (UNI) The CPI(M) today accused the Congress and Indigenous National Party of Tripra (INPT) of striking up a nexus with militant groups to come to power in the state.

Talking to mediapersons, senior CPI(M) leader Goutam Das alleged that the Central Intelligence Agencies had definite information about the meeting between Congress, INPT and rebel leaders.

''They have met in Shillong, Aizwal and Guwahati to give the final shape of their strategy,'' he said.

Mr Das also alleged that former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had used the outlawed Tripura National Volunteers (TNV) to topple the Left Front government in the state during the 1988 Assembly poll.

At least 800 party workers had been killed by militant outfits in the state, while 91 lost their lives due to insurgency during the last Assembly election held in 2003, he added.

MP govt spending Rs 1,227-cr on power

Bhopal, Feb 7 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government is expending Rs 1,227 crore on firming up power distribution. The Eastern, Western and Central Power Distribution companies have been entrusted with the endeavour that got underway about two-and-a-half months back, official sources said.
