CS to convene meeting of top cops to discuss terrorism

Bangalore, Feb 7: Newly Karnataka Chief Secretary Sudhakar Rao today said that he will soon convene a meeting of top Police officials to draw a map to tackle the problem of terrorism in the State.

Immediately after taking over the charge from his predecessor P B Mahishi, the new Chief Secretary said necessary programmes would be chalked out in the meeting to check growth of terrorists activities in the State. All needed steps would be taken to maintain law and order in the State.

Mr Rao said that during his tenure he would give top priority for overall development of the State. "The post is full of responsibility and priority would be given to solve people's problems first", he added.

He said that steps would be taken to implement programmes as announced in the state budget and completion of projects sanctioned by Union government.

Stating that the Deputy Commissioners should tour their respective Districts, he said that they should also ensure that the benefits of State government's welfare programmes reached the beneficiaries.

Honest efforts would be made to gear up the administrative machinery and to maintain transparency, he added.

Cauvery: Complete shutdown of K'taka on Feb 12

Bangalore, Feb 10: Karnataka will be completely shutdown on Feb 12 from 6 am to 6pm to support statewide bandh called by Kannada organisations against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal verdict.
