Tiruchirapalli, Feb 7: The Bharathidasan University here has signed a Memorandum of understanding with Sailcon Beijing Education Company Limited to appoint the Chinese company as its representative for facilitating admission of Chinese students in the varsity and its affiliated colleges.
University sources said under the MoU, the varsity had entrusted responsibilities with the foreign company to make presentations and offer counselling at targeted schools and colleges in China, participation in appropriate promotional events, arrange public relation events press coverage and select students eligible for admission to various programmes.
The sources said the university would admit as many as 1,000 Chinese students by December this year in various under graduate and post graduate courses like BSc Computer Science, BCA, BE Computer Science, BE Information Technology, BBA, ME Computer Science, ME Information Technology, ME Software Engineering, MBA and MCA.
The under graduate programmes that would be devised specifically for the Chinese students would include a component in basic Tamil study, besides English coaching for three to six months. Sailcon would arrange for adapting the students of China, where 11 years of schooling was in vogue, to the higher educational requirements in India to make them eligible for under graduate admission, they said.
Though the university would offer all the programmes on its premises through its School of Engineering, it would also identify established affiliated institutions to provide hostel accommodation and Chinese food to the Chinese students, the sources added.
