AP to prepare action plan for land rights to Girijans

Hyderabad, Feb 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said the government would prepare an action plan to provide land rights to Girijans in the state.

Addressing the district collectors via video conferencing here, he directed them to finalise the action plan by July this year.

He said he had discussion with Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Minister Jairam Ramesh regarding permission for raising rubber plantations in the state.

He said the Centre would give permission to raise coffee plantations in another 40,000 to 50,000 acres in addition to 70,000 acres existing now.

The Centre had permitted to allot a minimum of ten acres of land to Girijans, cultivating lands for several years without any rights over it, he added.

Telugu comedian Chittajallu dead

Hyderabad, Feb 7 (UNI) Telugu film actor Chittajallu Lakshmipathi Rao was found dead in his residence in the city today. He was 55 and is survived by wife and children. Police said the reason for his death was not immediately known. The comedian's family was not in the city, at the time of this death. He had acted in about 40 pictures including 'Andhrudu', 'Murari', and 'Allari'. UNI BR JJ 2142.....

Iran Embassy Councellor calls on Prince of Arcot

Chennai, Feb 7 (UNI) The Cultural Counsellor in the Iranian Embassy Karim Najafi called on the Prince of Arcot Nawab Mohammed Ali at the latter's official residence Amir Mahal here today. During the discussions, Dr Najafi expressed his desire to the Prince to establish an Indo-Iran friendship society in Tamil Nadu to promote socio-cultural activities, a press release from the Prince said here. The society could also preserve old historic documents, relating to old cultures.....

North Indians in Holland and Mauritius condemn violence

Mumbai, Feb 7 (UNI) Persons of Indian origin from Holland and Mauritius, belonging to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, have condemned the violence against North Indians in the city and Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari. A memorandum to the Indian embassies in the two countries have been submitted by persons of Indian origin there, stressing that the attacks are showing India in poor light and need to stopped immediately, Manoj Tiwari's spokesman said in a statement here.....
