All party meet held on budget session's eve

Lucknow, Feb 7 (UNI) An all party meeting was today held here on eve of the Budget Session of the state legislature.

During the meeting, leaders of prominent political parties assured Chief Minister Mayawati that they would cooperate in the proceedings of the House.

Besides Mayawati, BSP leader Swamy Prasad Maurya, PWD Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, BJP leaders Lalji Tandon, Hukum Singh, Suresh Khanna, Congress leaders Pramod Tiwari, RLD leaders Kokab Hameed and Munna Singh Chauhan were also present during the meeting.

Russia agrees to lift ban on importing tobacco from India

Moscow, Feb 7 (UNI) Russia has agreed to lift the ban on imports of tobacco from India. Indian ambassador to Moscow, Prabhat Shukla met with Russian Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeyev yesterday to discuss the issue related to ban imposed by Moscow on the imports of plant products from India. During the talks, both sides were agreed in principle to extend the list of plant products imported to Russia from India. Mr Gordeyev clarified that plant.....

Gyanendra expresses dissatisfaction over abolition of Monarchy

Kathmandu, Feb 7 (UNI) King Gyanendra of Nepal expressed displeasure over the recent decision by the country's lawmakers to abolish the monarchy, a Japanese newspaper reported today. The suspended King Gyanendra said, "The decision doesn't reflect the majority view of the people. This is not democracy." In an interview to a journalist of Yomiuri Shimbun of Japan, he expressed disatisfaction over Parliament's decision to end the monarchy in Nepal. The king's remark was in reference.....

McCain certain to be Republican Presidential nominee

Washington, Feb 8: Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has suspended his presidential campaign, allowing Republican frontrunner Senator John McCain to be the party's nominee for the White House, even as the Democratic race locked in a virtual tie between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. In primaries and caucuses, Obama won more states than Clinton, but the former first lady captured larger states like California, New York and New Jersey, with higher number of delegates. Clinton and Obama are looking ahead.....
