Youth dies in mysterious circumstances

Mumbai, Feb 6 (UNI) A 30-year-old youth was found dead in suspicious circumstances in a shop in Byculla area of south-central Mumbai here today.

Though the police claimed that the deceased, identified as Asif Mushtaq Khan, died his natural death, the family alleged foul play.

Mushtaq, a motor mechanic, had gone to loot a shop at Byculla last night, and was found dead at a nearby shop, police said.

However, his relatives alleged that he was picked up by the police from near his home.

''In the morning, one of our relatives informed us that we should call at the police station. When we reached there, they gave us a certificate, saying that Mushtaq had died and we could get his body from the KEM Hospital,'' family members of Mushtaq said.

On reaching the hospital morgue, we identified his body, and noticed some injury marks and grease smeared on one of his hands, the family members alleged.

When contacted in this regard, the Byculla Police refused to talk further.

Election Commission to convene state poll officials' meeting tomorrow

New Delhi, Feb 6 : The Election Commission will convene a high-level meeting of poll officials of all states on Thursday to make strategies for free and fair electioneering process. NABARD sanctions Rs 144.33 crore for Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 6 (UNI) The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs 144.33 crore to Kerala for rural infrastructure projects. According to a release here today, the Chamravattom regulator cum bridge multipurpose project in Malappuram district would get Rs 95.12 crore. The other projects included 13 rural roads and three bridges each in Alappuzha, Idukki, Palakkad, Kollam, Kottayam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Ernakulam and Kannur districts. An amount of Rs 35.44.....
