Women lay siege demanding shifting of TASMAC shop

Kancheepuram, Feb 6 (UNI) About 500 women representing 15 Self-Help Groups (SHG) today laid a seige, demanding shifting of a Tamil Nadu Spirit and Marketing Corporation(TASMAC) shop at Sengadu village near Sriperambadur in this district of Tamil Nadu here.

Police said the SHG resorted to agitation alleging that many people in an inebriated condition were often hurling abuses at the residents of the area, especially women.

Vidulai Chiruthai Katchi(VCK) member Gopinath and a police team rushed to the spot and assured them that the shop would soon be shifted out of that place.

Orissa: JITM students develop solar lantern

Bhubaneswar, Feb 20:  A low cost solar powered battery charged LED Lanterns have been developed by the students of Jagannath Institute of Technology and Management (JITM), Orissa, in collaboration with the Engineers Without Borders(EWB) member students from University of Illinois.
