Walia urges Discoms to intensify efforts for 24X7 power in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Delhi Power and Finance Minister A K Walia today expressed the hope that Discoms would intensify their efforts in providing 24x7 power supply to the city.

Speaking to reporters after inauguration of the NDPL's Advanced Centre for Network Management and launch of India's first Automatic Fault Location Van and 30 environment-friendly maintenance vans at Pitampura, Dr Walia said Delhi's own power generation would help in providing 24x7 power supply in the city.

In this context, Dr Walia said an Action Plan is being implemented to commission the 1500 MW Pragati Power III plant within the next two years. Apart from this, generation from the Jhajjar power plant would also start in the next two years.

Dr Walia said the Automatic Fault Location Van would facilitate substantial reduction in fault restoration time and hence ensure uninterrupted power supply. In this context, he assured that two other Discoms would also be exhorted to deploy such vans.

An environmental-friendly brand new fleet of 60 vans running on LPG will be deployed in all NDPL Zones. These will be used by the mobile maintenance crew and would be equipped with the most modern tools and kits for carrying out the restoration and maintenance work in distribution.

It was also informed that the NDPL would soon deploy another 30 environment-friendly maintenance vans.

The new Center hosts the most advanced electrical automation systems and has put NDPL at par with some of the world's best power distribution utilities in terms of technology.
