UNPA decry attack on Hindi speqking people in Maharashtra

Ranchi, Feb 06 (UNI) In a major show of the Third Front, galaxy of United National Progressive Alliance leaders today gathered here and picked on the UPA government for its failure on all fronts-- mainly to check farmers' suicide and ensure safety of peopole in own land.

All the leaders decried the atrocities on Hindi speaking people in Maharashtra by Maharashtra Navanirman Sena activists and appealed to people of North India not to react to such a ''nasty political ploy.'' UNPA president Mulayam Singh Yadav, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu, former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala, Asom Gana Parishad president Brindaban Goswami and SP leader Amar Singh attended a ''Parivartan Rally'' held at the historic Morabadi ground here organised by Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (Democratic).

Mr Yadav, while criticising MNS president Raj Thackeray for attempt to disrupt unity also did not spare Marathi stalwart and Union Minister Sharad Pawar for the farmers' suicide.

He said the agricultural sector was getting weakened under the UPA government at the Centre as the unabated suicide committed by the farmers brought testimony to that.

The former UP chief minister said Mr Pawar himself from Maharashtra, failed to check such incident as the suicide rate of farmers was highest in that state only.

Mr Naidu while urging people in this belt not to get provoked by Mr Thackeray's statement, also invited all from th country to Hyderabad to find avenues there., He said strong action should be taken against Mr Thackeray for trying to violate India's theme of unity in diversity.

''Earlier, they (MNS) were targetting Tamils and Telegus and now the people of North India were the victims,'' he said adding the MNS president had no business to do such things as Indian could go anywhere in the country according to his or her choice.

Mr Amar Singh mainly spoke on Mr Thakre's statement against Mr Amitabh Bachchan, adding the cinestar contributed as much to Mumbai as his contribution to UP.

He blamed the Maharashtra government for not taking any action against Mr Thackeray so far despite a complaint being lodged.

JVM president Babulal Marandi mainly confined his speech to the state and asserted that a new government headed by his party after a fresh poll would ensure all round development in Jharkhand.
