Three Myanmar fishermen rescued from turbulent sea

Berhampur (Orissa), Feb 06 (UNI) Three fishermen of Myanmar reported missing in the turbulent sea since last 34 days were rescued by the local fishermen at Gopalpur-on-Sea yesterday.

Sources said the Myanmar fishermen had ventured into the sea during the last week of November for fishing with traditional bamboo shaft with a hut in the middle but were missing since then in the deep sea following a cyclonic storm.

However local fishermen of Ganjam traced them after they reached near the Gopalpur coast in the afternoon and shouted for help.They were provided with food and clothing by the local fishermen who later handed them over to the Gopalpur police.

They were identified as Sha U (44), Sholo Wein (34) and O Le (21) and belonged to Phoudaun Qua, Phitang Chau Myaun and Tuyan Kiwa villages respectively in Myanmar, police today said.

According to them they ventured into the sea with four fishing groups but were in dark about the whereabouts of others. The three fishermen survived in the deep sea by eating fish only.

The Ganjam district administration and the police, sources said were contemplating for their safe return journey and handover them to appropriate authority.

Berhampur SP Nitinjit Singh along with two interpreters who know Burmese talked with the three fishermen who only understand Burmese language.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
