Teachers demand exclusive higher secondary directorate

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Schools Post Graduate Teachers Association today urged the State Government to establish an exclusive directorate for higher secondary education.

Talking to newspersons here, Association State President V Manivasagan said all private higher secondary school PG teachers should be given time bound promotions, concessions and other benifits on par with government higher secondary schools.

He alleged that there was a long delay in availing a loan from the teachers Providend Fund and urged the government to avoid such unwarrented delay.

The Association would conduct its third state level conference on February 29, he added.

Goa government implements 'speed governors'

Panaji, Feb 6 (UNI) The Goa government implemented ''speed governors'' from today to reduce road accidents. Speaking to reporters, Transport Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, said here today fatal accidents are increasing every day in Goa due to overspeeding of heavy vehicles. He said over the last five years, there have been accidents involving 2218 buses in which 76 persons had died. As many as 3989 trucks and 1640 tempos were involved in accidents during the same.....

Final shape on IPI gas pipeline soon: Deora

New Delhi, Feb 6: Petroleum Minister Murli Deora today said a final shape on the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline will be given soon, even as it looks to resolve all outstanding differences in the deal. WB annual plan for 2008-09 finalised at Rs 11602.38 cr

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) The Planning Commission today finalised the plan outlay of West Bengal for the year 2008-09 at Rs 11602.38 crore. The plan size was finalised at a meeting held here between West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia. The plan size includes additional Central Assistance of Rs 150 crore for projects of special importance to the state. Mr Ahluwalia complimented the state for improvements.....
