Indore, Feb 6 (UNI) The Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) has demanded that the National Board of Trade's governing body be dissolved and a fresh one constituted.
The SOPA has been constantly complaining of large-scale irregularities in NBoT and urging that, it should be saved from becoming a pocket body of Ruchi Soya Industries Chairman Kailash Shahara who also chairs NBoT that deals with soybean, soya oil, cake and commodities exchange including mustard.
At a SOPA members meeting here yesterday, a proposal was passed demanding that Futures Market Commission Chairman B C Khatua should speedily take steps. The SOPA urged that police action be taken over its Treasurer S N Rathi being assaulted in Mr Khatua's presence at a NBoT programme here on February 1 and protection for Mr Rathi who had gone to submit a memorandum on NBoT irregularities to Mr Khatua.
NBoT Member Rathi lodged a police complaint here against Mr Shahara and others in this connection.
''SOPA-promoted NBoT was formed under the Company Act's Section 25 and SOPA invested Rs 2 crore in it. I apprehend there has been bungling of thousands of crores. Missives have been sent repeatedly to the Company Affairs Ministry and the Commission but in vain,'' said SOPA Coordinator Rajesh Agrawal.
