S Korean University comes calling on HP University professor

Shimla, Feb 6 (UNI) A Himachal Pradesh University professor has been invited by a South Korean University to work on nanotechnology and will help in developing nanofibres based polymers for improving the efficiency of lithium batteries.

Mr Ghanshaym Chauhan, professor in the chemistry department of the University, has been selected as ''Brain Pool Fellow'' by the Korean Foundation of Science and Technology to work on enzyme-based sensors for novel actuators and sensors, besides carrying out research to improve the efficiency of lithium batteries.

During this one-year stay, Mr Chauhan would work at the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Gyeongsang National University, Jinju in South Korea.

The University Professor has executed fourteen research projects and has to his credit five chapters in chemical and material books, 125 publications in international journals and had presented 84 pages in national and international conferences.

He has also been a UNESCO fellow and has worked at the prestigious Charless University and Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry at Prague Besides, he has also guided 15 students in their doctoral degrees and is a reviewer of 15 international journals.

His research in diverse areas like green chemistry, biocatalysis and environment management technologies using active and smart polymers is well known.

China lacks moral ground to be 'super power'

Brussels, Dec 5: Tibetan spiritual leader, The Dalai Lama, has said that if China wants to be seen as a super power in the 21st century, it has to first acquire and improve its moral authority.Addressing the European Parliament here, the Dalai Lama said on China: "One important factor is moral authority and that is lacking. Because of its very poor record on human rights and religious freedom and freedom of expression and freedom of the press - too much.....
