Earthquake hits South Bengal

Kolkata, Feb 06: A 4.0 magnitude earthquake today hit most of South Bengal, including Durgapur, Raniganj and Bankura, Asansol and West Midnapore. Alipore Met Department Director (in-charge) S N Roy told UNI that the tremor was felt at around 1140 hours in several parts in these areas and lasted for 10 to 15 seconds.

The epicentre of the quake was at 23.6 degrees North Latitude and 87.1 degrees East Longitude, near Andal in Bardhaman district, he informed. Panic-stricken people rushed out of their houses towards open fields. School authorities at many places declared holiday fearing any eventuality. Reports from other districts said that the quake was severe as several buildings developed cracks. However, there are no initial reports of injuries or casualities.

Tata Motors conducts second round of tests for ITI's

Kolkata, Feb 10: The Tata Motors today organised the second round of written test and interview of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) candidates from Singur.Altogether 15 candidates, who had earlier registered with the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC), appeared for the test. Well i just got to hear the news from my Mom in the evening and i was literally terrified.I thank god that they are all safe and there were no casualty in the near by places.
