Pedestrian fatally knocked down by lorry

Chennai, Feb 6 (UNI) A pedestrian was fatally knocked down by a mini lorry at Tambaram here this evening.

Police said Munuswamy (40) was standing on the median, to cross the road, when the lorry hit him.

Following the incident, the passersby staged a road blockade demanding arrest of the lorry driver.

Top traffic officials rushed to the spot to pacify the people.

New Chief Secretary appointed in K'taka

Bangalore, Feb 6 (UNI) Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur today ordered shifting of Chief Secretary P B Mahishi to Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) as its Chairman. According to official sources here, Mr Sudhakar Rao has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of the state. Mr Rao was currently Additional Chief Secretary and State Development Commissioner.
