Pak military chopper crashes, eight dead


Islamabad, Feb 6: A Pakistani military helicopter on Wednesday crashed in South Waziristan in which a senior army officer and seven other personnel were killed.

The chopper crashed near Tanai village in South Waziristan due to a "technical malfunction", the Dawn quoted chief military spokesman Major General Athar Abbas, as saying. Major General Javed Sultan, the commanding officer of Kohat garrison, two brigadiers and five other personnel were killed in the crash.

Musharraf rules out US strikes in Pakistan

Islamabad, July 27: Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said today his forces were fully capable of dealing with al Qaeda militants and dismissed the possibility of US forces taking anti-terrorism action on Pakistani soil. Musharraf's remarks came after a spate of statements from US officials suggesting the US military kept open the option of a strike against Taliban and al Qaeda targets on Pakistani territory. ''It is very clear that here on Pakistani territory only.....
