One injured in police firing in Madhubani

Madhubani, Feb 6 (UNI) One person was injured today when police opened fire to quell a violent mob protesting against the death of a villager due to alleged police excess at Kalambari under Jaynagar police station area in the district.

Police said that villagers had blocked the main road in Jaynagar to protest the death of villager in police custody yesterday who was nabbed on charges of theft.

'' When all attempts to clear the blockade failed and the mob turned violent, police resorted to open fire to disperse the gathering for smooth flow of traffic'', Police added.

Earlier, Sheetal Mukhiya died due to police excess while in custody on charges of theft.Later, the violent mob had thrashed three policemen.
