Mr Ved Jain is new ICAI President, Mr UP Agarwal ICAI V-P

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Mr Ved Kumar Jain, FCA, has taken over as President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the apex body of the profession in the country, for 2008-09.

Mr Uttam Prakash Agarwal, FCA, is the newly-elected Vice President of ICAI, which is the second largest accounting body with more than 145,000 members.

Mr Jain, 54, specialises in direct taxes and has wide experience in handling corporate tax matters. He is member of the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs, a release here said.

200 leave Raj Thackeray's party to join Shiv Sena

Goa government implements 'speed governors'

Panaji, Feb 6 (UNI) The Goa government implemented ''speed governors'' from today to reduce road accidents. Speaking to reporters, Transport Minister Pandurang Madkaikar, said here today fatal accidents are increasing every day in Goa due to overspeeding of heavy vehicles. He said over the last five years, there have been accidents involving 2218 buses in which 76 persons had died. As many as 3989 trucks and 1640 tempos were involved in accidents during the same.....
