Minority communities' students to get free coaching

Chandigarh, Feb 6 (UNI) Haryana Government's Department of Social Justice and Empowerment has decided to provide free coaching to the students belonging to the minority communities for admissions in foreign universities as well as for various Central and State Government services competitive exams.

While stating this here today, Haryana Social Welfare Minister Kartar Devi said that the coaching would be provided to the students of minority community for qualifying examinations for courses such as engineering, law, management and language examinations for admissions in foreign universities.

She said that remedial coaching at undergraduate and graduate levels would also be given to the students to improve their academic knowledge.

While detailing out the eligible bodies for conducting these free coaching programmes, she said that all the government institutes, universities and autonomous bodies engaged in coaching and imparting remedial coaching would be eligible under the scheme. She made it clear that the deemed universities and private college too would be eligible to conduct these free coaching programmes.

She said that the eligible institutes could apply in the prescribed proforma to the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment upto February 15.

Jaya appeals to Mamata to call off her fast

Chennai, Dec 27: Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa has appealed to Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee to call off her fast, which entered 24th day today. A release from the AIADMK office tonight said, Ms Jayalalithaa had written a letter to Mamata Banerjee appealing her to call off the fast.
