Maya requests PM to save North Indians in Maharashtra

Lucknow, Feb 6 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene into the Maharashtra incident which has provoked uproar across the state.

The CM has requested the PM to provide protection to the North Indians living in Maharashtra and take stringent action against the anti-social elements.

Condemning the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) violent activities, the CM said Constitution was violated openly but the Maharashtra government had done nothing so far.

In her letter to the PM, Chief Minister Mayawati had underlined the Fundamental Rights of an Indian citizen, which entitles every citizen to live in any part of the country and earn his livelihood.

She said Maharashtra is no exception and is an integral part of India, hence shares the same constitution.

The incident had inculcated feeling of insecurity in UPites, they are living in terror, she added.

She had requested the PM to look into the matter in priority.
