Govt committed to provide facilities to investors: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 6 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today said the government was committed to provide facilities to investors and industrialists for the development of industry in the state.

Inaugurating a national workshop on how to utilise the Geographical Indication Act here, he said majority of the land acquired by the government for industrial development remained unused due to lack of basic infrastructure and even half of the total land in the state could not be used for industrial purpose.

Mr Kareeem said the government was seriously considering to create a brand for products made in Kerala.

Six ULFA cadres arrested, cash and weapons seized in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 06 (UNI) Security forces today arrested six United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) militants in Garo Hills, Meghalaya and recovered arms and ammunition and explosives from their possession, a senior police official said. The militants, include Aftab Ali, a ''seargent major'' of the ULFA's 709 battalion' in Garo Hills.
