Former UNI scribe passes away

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Ramesh Arora, senior journalist and former chief of bureau of United News of India died here early this morning.

He was 64.

Arora had been battling lung cancer for the past few months. He was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences a few days back for medical treatment where he died around 0430 hrs this morning.

Since his retirement, Arora had been working as an Assistant Editor with Indo Asian News Service.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, both of whom are working in the United States.

Arora will be cremated at the Lodhi road crematorium later today.

Institute to study seismic activity in NE: Govt

Aizwal, Mar 11:  The Ministry of Earth Sciences will set up a research institute to study seismic activities in Northeast and has already sent a proposal to Finance Ministry for necessary sanction.Official sources here today said following the proposal of NE states the ministry had initiated the move of setting up an exclusive centre to survey the seismic activities in the region.According to Bureau of Indian Standards apart from Jammu.....
