Former Mayor Dinkarrao Patil passes away

Kolhapur, Feb 6 (UNI) Former Mayor of Kolhapur Dinkarrao Bhausahb Patil passed away at his house here today. He was 64.

He is survived by his wife, son and a daughter. Mr Patil was not keeping well for the last few months due to his waist bone problem.

He was elected the Mayor of Kolhapur in the year 1988.

Earlier, he was the Chairman of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) Standing Committee.

Mr Patil, also a Congress activist, was known for his plain-spoken nature in political circles.

Govt announces 12 per cent wage hike for STC employees

Chennai, Feb 6 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government today announced 12 per cent wage hike for State Transport Corporation employees. After marathon discussions, an agreement to this effect was signed by the representatives of various trade unions and the Government in the presence of Transport Minister K N Nehru this evening.
