Fog affects air services in capital;10 cancelled, 50 diverted

New Delhi, Feb 6 (UNI) Several domestic and international flights -- both incoming and outbound -- were either cancelled, delayed or diverted due to heavy fog in Delhi early today.

Airport sources said about 10 flights were cancelled, 50 diverted and several others got delayed due to the thick fog cover enveloping Delhi and surrounding areas this morning.

However, airport officials said only six flights -- four of Deccan Airways and one each of Jetlite and SpiceJet -- were cancelled today.

They said 18 flights -- 13 domestic and five international -- were diverted while several airlines rescheduled their early morning departures.

The officials said 39 flights -- 24 domestic and 15 international -- operated from Delhi today when the Low Visibility Procedures (LVP) were enforced at the airports.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast clear but cloudy sky with general visibility improving further.

China lacks moral ground to be 'super power'

Brussels, Dec 5: Tibetan spiritual leader, The Dalai Lama, has said that if China wants to be seen as a super power in the 21st century, it has to first acquire and improve its moral authority.Addressing the European Parliament here, the Dalai Lama said on China: "One important factor is moral authority and that is lacking. Because of its very poor record on human rights and religious freedom and freedom of expression and freedom of the press - too much.....
