Finnish Prime Minister to arrive in Mumbai today

Mumbai, Feb 6: Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen will arrive here today on a two-day visit to take forward the bilateral relations with India. Vanhanen will be accompanied by Minister of the Environment, Kimmo Tiilikainen and a delegation of Finnish business leaders. Vanhanen will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh today to explore investment and business opportunities in the state and cooperation in environment friendly technologies.

The delegation is also scheduled to meet Indian energy and climate specialists over lunch. On Thursday, Vanhanen and Tiilikainen will attend the inaugural session of the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit 2008 in New Delhi. The visiting dignitary will meet Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh the same evening to hold discussion on several issues, including climate change, energy and regional and international matters of mutual importance.
Finnish Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath to discuss bilateral economic relations and trade, science and technology cooperation, the EU-India free trade negotiation and the Doha development agenda.

Institute to study seismic activity in NE: Govt

Aizwal, Mar 11:  The Ministry of Earth Sciences will set up a research institute to study seismic activities in Northeast and has already sent a proposal to Finance Ministry for necessary sanction.Official sources here today said following the proposal of NE states the ministry had initiated the move of setting up an exclusive centre to survey the seismic activities in the region.According to Bureau of Indian Standards apart from Jammu.....
