Films, a great learning experiance: students

Mumbai, Feb 6 (UNI) Films are not only a source of entertainment but also a great learning experience, student delegates attending the Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) opined.

Though most of the students visiting the festival are related to Media, Animation or Designing, students of Management institutes are also turning up in large numbers.

Seeing the interest among the students, Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai, on his visit to the festival, requested the organisers to arrange for a seperate student's film festival. Mr Ghai had come to the festival to inaugurate the special package on students' films, which also features the films made by his institute ''Whistling Woods''.

The week-long festival, on its second day, has registered more than 1600 student delegates from various Media and Management institutes across the country.

Besides the students from the Film Making institutes, student from the Management institutes are also appreciating the documentaries and short films and are highly impressed by its making.

''We get to know about time management, coordination, motto, working under constraints and decision making, which are essential to help us become good managers,'' first year student of MMS of Anjuman Islam's Atlana Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, Jitender Kumar said .

A second year student of Visual Communication from Loyola College, Chennai, Gracia Joseph said, ''It is a great exposure to films and I have become more aware to the genre and techniques of filmmaking. I thank my institute for sending me here.'' UNI DB SR SBC VC0932

UK govt to offer incentives to reduce weight

London, Jan 24: It may soon pay to be obese in the UK. The British government was considering plans to offer vouchers or cash to the overweight to lose their extra pounds. Ministers said the Health Service and employers could give vouchers to the overweight to spend on healthy food in supermarkets. It was also suggested that the successful candidates may be given cash prizes. One fourth of the British adult population and one in five children are obese. Experts say.....
