JK: Dental College students stir enters 6th day

Jammu, Feb 6: The ongoing agitation launched by the students of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College here entered its sixth day today.

The students are demanding approval from the Dental Council of India (DCI) for the previous three batches as they alleged that DCI has been considering the batch of 2007 as the first batch and is not concerned with the previous.

''The strike will continue along with the closure of Out Patient Department (OPD) and clinical departments till government initiates steps to get the previous three batches recognized by the DCI,'' president of Dental Students Association Pawan Singh Jasrotia told UNI.

However, the deputation of the students also called on Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad yesterday and apprised him of their demand.

The students resumed with work later and opened the OPD for the short time but all other departments remained close. Despite the assurance of Mr Azad, the students are continuing the agitation, which has entered the sixth day today.
