BJP leader hits out at UPA Govt on terror

Bangalore, Feb 6 (UNI) BJP Leader M Venkaiah Naidu today expressed concern over the country becoming more vulnerable to terrorism under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Regime.

Speaking to newsmen here, he said the UPA should wake up from 'deep slumber' and give up politics of appeasement to deal with an iron hand the terror activities across the country.

It was unfortunate a peaceful State like Karnataka was being used by terrorist organisations for subversion.

Replying to queries, he said the country required a stringent legislative measure like the POTA, which was 'unfortunately scrapped' by the government.

He cautioned terrorists were out to disrupt peace in India with the help from a neighbouring country and their designs were very clear. There was a larger evil design to cripple Indian economy and subvert the country.

He questioned the delay in initiating action against Afzal Guru and others who were behind the attack on Parliament and suggested a law which should not consider caste or religion while punishing the guilty.

The rallies to be addressed by Party Leader L K Advani across the country were being rescheduled in view of security threat, Mr Naidu added.
