BJP 1eader Venkaiah Naidu criticises Cong led UPA govt at the Centre

Bangalore, Feb 6 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party leader Venkaiah Naidu today expressed concern that the country was becoming more vulnerable during the regime of Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre with the growing terrorist activities.

Speaking to newsmen here, he said the UPA should wake up from a 'deep slumber' and give up politics of appeacement to deal with an iron hand against terrorist activities across the country. It was unfortunate that a peaceful state like Karnataka was being used by terrorist organisations to subert the country, he regretted.

Replying to queries, he said the country needed a stringent legislative measure like the POTA Act which was 'unfortunately scrapped' by the government. He cautioned that the terrorists were out to disrupt peace in India with the help from a neighbouring country and their design was very clear. There was a larger evil design to cripple Indian economy and subvert the country, he feared.

He questioned the delay in initiating action against Afzal Guru and others who were behind the attack on the Parliament and suggested that the law should consider caste or religion while punishing the guilty.

He said the rallies across the country to be addressed by party leader L K Advani were being rescheduled in view of a threat of suicide attacks on him.
