APLOA asks govt to postpone implementation of GO 362

Vijayawada, Feb 6 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners Association (APLOA) today urged the state government to temporarily postpone the GO 362 regarding the fixing of speed governors in transport vehicles.

Talking to newspersons here, APLOA President C Gopalanaidu and General Secretary Y V Eswara Rao said the GO had made compulsory for transport vehicles to fix speed governors while obtaining or renewing permit from March one.

They said over ten lakh vehicles in the state, mostly lorry owners, would be affected due to the GO.

Asking the government whether the speed governors would be manufactured as per the present changing technology in the transport sector and whether its supply would be able to meet its demand, they lamented that the government did not consider the vehicle owners' problems in the implementation of the GO.

Appealing the government to postpone the decision for some time, they requested the government to convene a meeting with vehicles manufacturers like Tata, Ashok Leyland and Maruti and their technical engineers and transport vehicle owners association representatives to discuss the matter and take a final decision in this regard.

The APLOA also urged the government to take action against the contractors in rural and municipal areas, who were violating the GO and collecting huge amounts from lorries by harassing the drivers.
