Amitabh's criticism uncalled for, Bal Thackeray

Mumbai, Feb 6 (UNI) Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray today said Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was a big personality, acclaimed internationally, and any accusation directed against him on a regional level was in bad taste.

Reacting for the first time on the issue, without naming Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief and his nephew Raj Thackeray, he said such criticism was uncalled for. Morever, Amitabh should not be perturbed over such criticism, he said.

Exhibiting his solidarity with Amitabh on the issue, Mr Thackeray in a statement issued here tonight, said his family had relations with the Bollywood icon for the last four decades and there had been no issues between them.

He said Amitabh should not let anything disturb his talent nor his acting skills.

''Amitabh has time and again said that whatever he is today is because of Maharashtra and its people'', Thackeray said.

The statement said the Sena chief prays for the good health and well being of Amitabh.

Raj Thackeray, had at a function of Konkani Mahotsav last friday, said Maharashtra had made Amitabh a superstar but he contested Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh and also became a brand Ambassador of that state.

Yoiuth shot dead; angry mob torches house of accused
