MP: 544 families shifted from Panna Tiger Reserve

Panna (MP), Feb 6: In a bid to avoid human-animal conflict in the core area of Panna Tiger Reserve, 544 families residing in eight villages in the tiger reserve would be shifted to other locations by March.

''Families residing in three villages have been shifted so far, while compensation has been provided to families of other five villages. They would be shifted by March,'' Panna Tiger Reserve Deputy Director A K Nagar told UNI over telephone.

These families were being located in Janwara and Pokhra villages in Panna district and two villages in Chhatarpur district.

He said five more villages would be shifted in the second phase.

Panna Tiger Reserve enjoys a prominent place among five tiger reserve areas in Madhya Pradesh.
