Manipur police nabs youth for misusing mobile phone SIM cards

Imphal, Feb 3: The Manipur police arrested a youth for making suspicious calls and repeated enquiries about the detailed programme of visit of a prominent VIP to a neighbouring state on Jan 30.

CID Superintendent of Police P Dhanakumar said acting on a tip-off, the recorded subscriber, one Laishram Premjit Singh, was picked up.

However, it transpired that he had already sold the SIM card and was unaware of the identity of the person who was currently using the number.

Investigation also revealed that he had sold 13 SIM cards, including the one identified by the police, to one Haobijam Prem, who had earlier been arrested for having links with the proscribed KYKL outfit.

Police later traced out the suspect number, which was found being used by one Haobijam Pakpa Singh, who was arrested.
