Dubai, Feb 3 (UNI) The UAE-based Zayed Foundation for Charitable and Humanitarian Works (ZFCHW) is to inaugurate new educational projects in India and the Philippines with a total cost of 14.5 million dirhams (about Rs 16 crore).
''The Zayed Women College in New Delhi and Zayed Islamic Centre in Jolo, Philippines are aimed at giving a long-term boost to education and human development as well as providing specialised expertise to the community in memory of UAE founding father the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan,'' said Director General of ZFCHW Mohammed bin Obaid Al-Dhaheri, who is leading a delegation to both the countries to inaugurate the projects.
The foundation is backed by President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the projects will be monitored by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the official WAM news agency said.
The Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Talmiz Ahmed praised ZFCHW as a pioneer charity which has strong presence in India and other Asian countries and said the Zayed Women College in New Delhi is a real and sustainable investment in human development.
The Foundation has offered a total of 25 million dirhams (Rs 27 crore) in humanitarian aid since 1993 to India (15 million dirhams) and the Philippines (10 million dirhams).
