Tripura CM seeks vote for LF to persist development

Agartala, Feb 3 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister and CPI(M) polit bureau member Manik Sakar urged the people of the state to vote for the Left Front to continue development in the state.

Addressing an election rally here today, Mr Sarkar said the state had witnessed a tremendous growth in the past 15 years of Left Front rule, while it was committed to upgradation of the living standard of the people and utilisation of the resources.

He said the fifth Left Front government had decided to set up agro-based industries, besides development of agriculture and other related sectors and as part of the mission, the state mobilised its own sources to encourage the outside investment in industrial sector.

Mr Sarkar, however, claimed that the insurgency in the state had improved substantially during the Left Front regime and general law and order situation had also improved in the state.

''We are committed to ensure security and establish the right to live for the people of Tripura,'' Mr Sarkar said adding that despite Central government's pressure the Left Front government in Tripura would not go for reducing the employment opportunity as well as to enforce VRS scheme for the existing employees.

He had also criticised Congress-led UPA government in the Centre for its anti-people initiatives and alleged that the government was not following the Common Minimum Programme, on which the leftists extended support to the coalition.
