Three bookies held for betting on cricket match

Bangalore, Feb 3 (UNI) Police arrested three bookies and recovered credit slips worth Rs 35 lakh at Gandhinagar in the city today.

Six mobiles, two landline telephones and Rs 11,805 in cash was recovered during a raid in an apartment in the area, police said.

They said three bookies, identified as Mantilal, Mamarchand and Rajesh were busy in betting on the one-day match between Australia and India being held at Brisbane.

They were arrested by the Central Crime Branch from the apartment this afternoon following a report of possible widespread betting on the match.
