Ahmedabad, Feb.3 : A number of differently-able children, many of them deaf and dumb or visually and physically challenged, delighted everyone this Friday as they walked on the ramp during annual college fest of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here.

The fashion show was part of the three-day cultural fest Chaos Nasha-2008 that commenced on Friday (Feb.1) at the IIM Ahmedabad campus. The fest concludes on Sunday (Feb.3).

The audience appreciated the special kids' participation and enthusiasm during the fashion show.

Children were grateful to the choreographers who trained them for three months ahead of the fashion show. They said it was due to choreographers' motivation that they could develop courage in themselves to face audience.

"We tried to show that we are no different from the physically normal folks. We can also perform like others. Our teachers Poorvi Madam and Sudha Madam made us practice a lot. It was because of them that we were able to do the cat walk," said Vinal, one of the participants.

Special gowns were designed to dress up the participating children for the occasion. They will to participate and perform impressed everyone.

"It took me three months and immense patience to train the children. Gradually, they picked up and performed so well that I could not believe it. They performed like regular models with whom I do professional shows," said Poorvi, a choreographer.

Reputed to be an 'entertainingly chaotic affair' the show will also include performances by popular singer K.K and Pakistani band Fuzon.

Moreover, workshops on creative and performing arts like dance and sculpture have been introduced for the first time at this annual extravaganza.

Organisers said that this year's event has pioneered many novel programmes.

This year another popular event will be the competitive Great Ahmedabad Race with a unique flavour for the participants, they added. By Ami Sharma
