Punjabi Univ continue domination in inter varsity cycling

Patiala, Feb 3 (UNI) Reshmi B R from Kerala and Sarpreet Singh from Punjabi University hogged the limelight in the two track events on the third day of All India Inter-Varsity Cycling Championship here at the Punjabi University Velodrome.

The other two track events billed for today could not be held due to inclement weather.

In the 3-km Individual Pursuit (women), Reshmi B R stood first with a timing of 4:42.344 sec; Suman from Punjabi University, Patiala was second with a timing of 4:45.218 sec, while Anupreet Kaur from Punjab University, Chandigarh, was third with a timing of 4:46.365 sec.

In the 4-km Individual Pursuit (men), Sarpreet Singh from Punjabi University, Patiala, got the first place with a timing of 5:16.411 sec, Kamnender Singh, also from Punjabi University, got the second place with a timing of 5:25.621 sec., while Jagdeep Singh from Punjab University, Chandigarh, was placed third with a timing of 5:31.447 sec.

Punjab crash out of national women hockey championship

Jalandhar, Feb 3 (UNI) Former champions Punjab, crashed out of the 55th Rakshak Senior Women Hockey National Championship, going down 3-2 to Jharkhand in a Pool-B match at the Surjit Singh hockey stadium here today. Jharkhand shot into the lead in the 25th minute of the match, but the hosts drew parity in the 32nd minute by converting a penalty corner. Both teams remained level at 1-1 at the end of the first half. Punjab again.....

Karthikeyan battles bravely in front of over 300 Indian fans

Sydney, Feb 3 (UNI) Narain Karthikeyan brought his years of experience into play to skillfully steer his way from the very back of the grid to finish the feature race at 11th place for A1 team India in the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport here today. A1 Team India had a tough 19th place starting position on the grid for the 42-lap feature race which left them open to the risk of potentially damaging midfield.....

ASSOCHAM opposes reservation to privatae sector in UP

Lucknow, Feb 3 (UNI) The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) today said they are opposed to the forceful implementation of reservation in the private sector by the Uttar Pradesh government.
