Man kills wife, children before hanging self in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 3 (UNI) A 42-year-old man allegedly killed his two children and wife before hanging himself at their house in North West Delhi today.

Police said Rai, his second wife (25), and sons Prabhat (8) and Rajan (5) were found hanging in their house at Gali number 7 of Ambedkar Nagar camp in Haiderpur area falling under the jurisdiction of Shalimarg police station this morning.

They said the victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared them brought dead.

Their bodies have been sent to the Babu Jagjeevan Ram Hospital for post-mortem.

Initial investigations suggested that Rai, a night watchman, had first drugged his wife and children before hanging them as there were no signs of any struggle on the bodies.

Sources said police also seized some empty packets of drugs, containing high quantity of narcotics from the scene. A suicide note was also recovered from Rai's pocket, they added.

The couple got married seven years ago and had a five-year-old son Rajan. Prabhat was the son of Rai's first wife, who had died.

The sources said Rai was troubled and feeling distressed by his wife's extra-marital affairs as she had eloped with a youth in December last year, but was later brought back from Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow.

They said the suicide note mentioned Rai's disappointment with his wife for having extra-marital affairs with the youth from the same locality.

Brij Kishore, the father of the deceased, had informed the police.

Police have registered a case and launched investigations.
