Kalam to launch Cochin Chamber's project

Kochi, Feb 3 (UNI) The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), an affiliate member of ASSOCHAM, will celebrate its 150th anniversary tomorrow with the launch of the 'Cochin Waste2Energy Project' by former president A P J Abdul Kalam.

Dr Kalam would unveil a plaque while announcing the project being taken up under the Chamber's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, its President Jose Dominic said in a statement here.

Dr Kalam would also release a book on the Cochin Chamber's history titled 'A Journey Through Time 1857-2007.' Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac and ASSOCHAM President Venugopal N Dhoot would be present at the function, Mr Dominic added.

Udupi, Feb 3 (UNI) In a bid to raise awareness among farmers, fishermen and the general public about the importance of Mangrove, the forest department would observe February 6 as 'Kandla Divas' (Mangrove Day), said Rajkumar Srivastav, the Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF), Kundapura Division here. Haryana govt to waive surcharge on private power generation

Faridabad, Feb 3 (UNI) Haryana Power Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said that there was a possibility of generating about 300 MW of power in Faridabad and Gurgaon through private generator system and the State Government would give benefit of waiving the surcharge on the same.
