Emergency response service to be operational in MP from April

Bhopal, Feb 3 (UNI) The Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) today announced that its '108' emergency response service would be operational in Madhya Pradesh from April.

The EMRI and the state government had signed a memorandum in this regard on November 25, 2007, to provide free police, medical and fire emergency services to the people.

EMRI Chief Executive Officer C Venkat Changavalli said the goal of EMRI was to create unified emergency service for India. Madhya Pradesh was the first state in north India to have signed with the EMRI to provide emergency response service.

He said EMRI project team was already working in the state capital on infrstructure, manpower and technology to operationalise the service in the state.

The EMRI had already begun recruitment drive. Ninety five employees are on board from January 1 and undergoing extensive medical and job training. About 300-350 people would be recruited by April.

Bangladesh may import gas from Myanmar

Dhaka, Feb 3: Bangladesh could consider gas import from Myanmar to meet a growing demand for the fuel.
