New Delhi, Feb 3 (UNI) A Delhi court while acquitting two Nigerian nationals, who were facing trial under NDPS act, pulled up a premier investigating agency of the Delhi police for tampering with the evidence and the official record.
The court of Additional Sessions Judge Babulal also directed the Commissioner of Police to investigate the conduct of the investigating officer in the case and also directed to post officials with high integrity in the cases involving NDPS act.
In a similar incident, Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Kapoor, the designated judge for NDPS, while acquitting two accused Kamlesh Kumar and Shyam of the NDPS charges, criticised the Delhi police for its callous attitude towards the treatment of drug trafficking cases.
The Judge directed them to go after the ''big fish'' involved in the crime, and not just the ''small fry'' as in many cases it was evident that masterminds behind the crime were let off leaving behind the insignificant underlings in the net.
He also sought a ''transparent system'' for the destruction of seized narcotics to prevent them from falling in wrong hands.
The duo of Kamlesh Kumar and Shyam were arrested on Feb 12, 2004, from Samta Sthal, Rajghat with 5 kg of heroin.
