Badal asks partymen to follow ideals of Daya Singh

Raipur Rajputa (Ludhiana), Feb 3 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minster Parkash Singh Badal today called upon the leadership of Shiromani Akali Dal to follow the precious legacy and ideology of the veteran Akali leader Jathedar Daya Singh.

These views were expressed by Mr. Badal while paying homage to Jathedr Daya Singh on his 3rd death anniversary here at local Gurdwara in his native village.

The Chief Minister described Jathedar Daya Singh as an epitome of self sacrifice and dedication, who spent his entire life for the well being (Chardikala) of Sikh Panth. Mr Badal said he had a long association with Jathedar Daya Singh, who had the qualities of head and heart and was committed to the service of humanity to the core of his heart.

Earlier, Mr Badal visited the ancestral house of Jathedar Daya Singh and met the family members.

On the occasion, Mr Badal announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the development of village Raipur Rajputan.

Later, Mr Badal presided over the Prize Distribution function at 25th Annual sports tournament organized by Singh Sports Association at village Ghungrali Rajputan and announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the sports club.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Badal said that his government was committed to promote rural sports in a big way. He urged the youth to participate in the sports activities.

Formation of smaller State not good for country: Deshmukh

Tirumala, Feb 2 (UNI) Maharastra Chief Minister M Vilasrao Deshmukh tonight said the constitution of smaller states was not good for the country. After darshan of Lord Venkateswara swamy at the temple town here, he told reporters that formation of smaller states was the opinion of leaders alone and not of the public. Mr Deshmukh was received by TTD officials at the temple. He will participate in the morning rituals at Tirumala tomorrow before leaving to.....

Hearing in murder, rape cases of Sacha Sauda Chief on Feb 23

Ambala, Feb 2 (UNI) Special CBI Judge R K Saini deferred the hearing in the murder and rape cases of Sacha Sauda Chief Baba Gurmit Ram Rahim till February 23 here today. The Dera Chief was present in the court. Baba's counsels Jasmer Singh and Surya Narain pleaded that the records with regard to the case submitted by the CBI to the court, had not been made available to them. They made mention.....

Farmers suicide issue is primary concern of saffron alliance: Uddhav

Pune, Feb 3 (UNI) Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today said the issue of farmers suicide was the primary concern of the saffron alliance and it will soon launch an agitation for waiver of their loans if the Maharashtra government fails to take action. ''If the state government does not act in the interests of farmers, we will not allow any state minister to move around in Mumbai and launch an agitation,'' he said.....
